Luminous Gunvolt IX 2 is a sequel of the spin off series of the Gunvolt games and this game does not disappoint. Copen is transferred to another alternate universe where he hunts Adepts and stop them from committing evil acts. He destroys them with the Razor Wheel, a new spinning blade weapon.

The dialogue and the story are as expected from the Gunvolt games, not too compelling. The graphics and background art are very good and the character designs are excellent too. The music is also enjoyable. The levels had unique designs which enhances the appeal of the game. The combat is as enjoyable as ever as Coppen defeats enemies and upgrades his weaponry.

It still has that same gameplay design flaw that pads out time with repeated boss fights during the late stages of the game just to lenghten the runtime. Like in Gunvolt 3, it is melee based with your hacksaw and, unlike the mainline games, here you can heal infinitely and equip as much abilities to help you in combat as you like which is pretty fun. You gain special powerups as you progress throughout the game from the bosses you defeat that are useful.
There is some replay value like finding emblems for another ending and also replaying boss fights if interested.
The DLC was pointless crossovers for other boss fights and not worth getting at all.
Overall, the game was pretty decent.
It gets 4 out of 5 stars.
