7th Dragon Code VFD

7th Dragon VFD is the third and as of now latest, entry in the 7th Dragon games.

It was developed by SEGA taking over from Imagepooch when the company dissolved. The game focuses on Unit 13 traveling in time to various periods from the past, present and future to stop extraterrestrial dragons from destroying the world as they have invaded the planet several times before.

The game has a huge customizable class system where you can choose various options for the character you are creating, and you can also unlock more classes as the story progresses. Combat is turned based and you can get help from other party members and have bonuses from bonding. You can unlock more features to help you out in exploration and combat as time goes by. However, not all areas are accessible as some are blocked by dragons. Dungeon exploration is straight forward combat, otherwise many of the enemies can be instant kill types even on the lowest difficulty so you really going to have to grind alot to survive in this game. You can take part in side quests too for rewards.

You can increase the powers of your skills the more you succeed in combat with the skill points you earn. The game has dialogue options that really don’t do anything, as is the case for countless jrpgs under Sega/Atlus which is really annoying. The dialogue was poor, and the characters were average at best. The graphics were fairly good and the artstyle was good as well. There is numerous extra content in the game; from cat cafes to socializing with team mates. The graphics were pretty decent and so was the artstyle too. The music was enjoyable.

Overall it was an alright game.

It gets 3 out of 5 stars.
