Gundress is an anime movie that was supposed to be the start of a sci fi girls with guns media franchise as part of a Korean Japan joint production but apparently it was a disaster behind the scenes due to inexperienced production committees who had not really that much investment into the anime industry and not to mention like square enix these days, really bad communication between team members and mismangement of resources too in its production cycle.
So much so in fact this is actually the last known, Studio Junio anime that was made and you can say that this movie was almost like The Room in some parrels instead of so bad its funny its more so bad that its baffling how was this even made in the first place.
It focuses on a group called the Angel Arms Unit that focuses on taking down terrorists wherever they may be.

As a sidenote there was a ps1 game based on this movie but i can't seem to find a copy of it for sale anywhere.

The characters are pretty much as tropey as one can expect and don’t expect yourself to get attached to anyone anyways considering how subpar they are.
The story its self its just average like not really any different to what bee train was doing with the genre at the time or also, other sci fi anime of the 90s either.
Don't expect much backstory into the world even Ghost In The Shell and the Cowboy Bebop movie of all things had more backstory than this.

Pacing wise its kind of inconsistent one part being fast paced another part being slow with really not that much going on to the story.
The action scenes itself its servicable but thats it servicable.
The art design from the mechs to the characters and world setting looks pretty decent especially since it was from the Ghost in the shell creator. However, considering how low budget it was you can easily tell lot of it was recylced from other mecha works not only from ghost in the shell but also if memory serves me right appleseed as well too.
The animation itself its alright buts really it alright i watched a “finished” version of it on youtube and it didn’t had the infamous pencil lines that were halfway done during the movie.
The music was pretty decent too.
Overall this was a below average movie.
It gets 2 out of 5 stars.
heres the version i watched if interested https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rv-EkK6ZRKw
