Arcana heart 3 is the “recent” entry in the Arcana Hearts series by Examu before they closed and moved to Team Arcana.
It focuses on the characters trying to stop the destruction of Japan and figure out why these strange interdimensional attacks going on too.
The sci fi fantasy mixed story isn’t really anything new to fighting games and its not exactly like devil survivor where anything can happen and anyone can die at any moment.
Otherwise the cast of the game is a fairly large one and also its an all female one too wit fanservice included too for those interested in it.
Of course they also share a variety of abilities and attacks to keep things unique.
Its the typical 2d fighting game where you beat up the opponent and perform various combos and a simple mode for beginners is there for easier ways to execute it and also a force gauge too is apparently new and once its full you can use it to deal lot of damage to your opponents.
The game has a variety of modes to play from the storymode where you fight in stages, afterstory and challenge modes also a training mode too if you need it.
There is a bunch of extra content to find too.
The controls i did found sort of stiff for my own liking at least maybe because its been a long while since i played a fighting game outside of the super smash bros games.
Also combos were not as responsive as it should have been as a result of the controls being kind of iffy.
The final boss too was kind of messy with projectiles fighting you all over the place and you really have to be super quick to defeat it too while dodging as much as the projectiles as you can.
The multiplayer since i played the vita version i don’t really think is online anymore.
I did liked the graphics and the art direction the game went with.
The amount of variety in stages is small but still serviceable.
The game is also Japanese only too (thankfully) with its voice acting.
The music is also pretty good too.
Overall it was a decent fighting game.
It gets 4 out of 5 stars.
Its not easy to find a copy of this game and its kind of pricey too but it does have its following online like other niche fighting games from phantom breaker to aquapazza both of which i do intend to review in the future. (Phantom Breaker for the vita is going to for my bday while i do have a copy of Aquapazza for the ps3 i am working on reviewing right now
