Trails Into Daybreak 2 is a sequel to the first Daybreak game in the calvard arc in the Trails series.
It continues on wiht Van and his other spriggans as they go on to stop the bad guys once again and take on various jobs.
The game has a time travel mechanic similar to Radiant Historia and its honestly one of the worst things to happen in the Trails series as its only going to lead to more convolution and disastrous ret-cons in the long run.
Not to mention the over use of it especially in chapter 3 of the game.
The game has alot of padding and filler with stories dragging on longer than it really should have been in the game.
Also the repeating same boss fight issue many jrpgs have is there as well.
Gameplay is the same as before mix of choice with real time and also turned based being able to use special abilties and customize your quartz.
The gourmet ranking was interesting way to boost stats the more you eat food in the game.
The chaos law gray system is back but inefective as always because the story doesnt really change at all.
Theres more minigames too like hacking,fishing and the card game stuff to rectify the first game initial lack of them iirc.
Theres the marchen garten where you can grind and collect items to help you out and its kind of similar to the reverie cordor from trails into reverie.
The characters are as average and uninteresting as before and also the dialogue is incredibly bad and the use of the word “Rizz” really was incredibly unacceptable and the english voice acting is as bad as ever too.
Overall this was another average game.
It gets 3 out of 5 stars.
From here on in, Trails is officially a zombie ip meaning it just goes on forever especially since its gotten bigger lately due to remasters of older games coming out and of course the inevitable woke tourists latching onto the series im pretty much now at this point just like smt/persona,ff and any other big jrpg in the past i just nope out and not bother buy anything related to the ip at all anymore so don’t ever expect future trails games reviews anytime soon and i honestly think instead of handling the lolcowlization of the sky arc trails games, gung ho online should have focused more on their older ips instead of that so all in all long story short, fuck trails and fuck corpro enshitfication and woke enshitfication too period.
