dead rising 4

Dead Rising 4 is the latest timeline entry of the Dead Rising series.

It focuses on Frank West's return to Williamete Colardo where he has to stop another zombie outbreak and find out the truth behind it.

This is where everything else seems to go downhill from here.

For starters, the story is just really a rehash of the first 3 games all boiled down into one story.

The characters themselves were not really that great and Frank West of now is not the Frank West that made him famous in the first place and he just came off as so depressing to look at and the other characters were just obnoxious and annoying and pretty forgettable. Not helping either was Frank's new voice was just phonened in and not even trying.

Plus i did noticed the characters the new ones would fit into atypical tumblr archtypes so thats a huge no no.

Even worst was that the real ending of the story was locked behind paid dlc so i highly recommend getting the complete edition instead of paying for this.

The side content is bare minimal and uninteresting.

The amount of jokes in the game is not even funny and its just pretty much the game trying hard to pretty much as other tongue in cheek pop culture oriented series like Pop Team Epic only to fail spectacularly.

I've even looked at the writing history of the game developers who worked on it, none of them really had any experience in horror media, just atypical quippy millenial gen z appeal ya stuff.

Even the game director is nowadays mostly focused on working on games like the sims and not stuff like dead rising.

The new villains too obscuris the private military they're just not really memorable either they're just unoriginal.

The replacement of psychopaths with maniacs was another huge downside to the game.

And the True Eye Cult coming back really was just for nostalgia pandering they already had closure in the first game there really was no need to bring them back again.

The weapons combo system is back and it was alright.

The zombies did not had the kind of aggression the first game had even the tougher variants you encounter still do not post that much of a threat later on in the game. The newer variants even though the game hyped them as incredibly dangerous you can actually kill them easily.

The whole exo armor thing it just did not fit in the game, it could have fit in in another sci fi based capcom game but not here and not even in resident evil either. You can occasionally upgrade it but even then it just looks really weird and out of place.

The graphics and art design here was not really the strongest point here either too.

The random checkpoint saves not helping either especially since save corruption is a thing among other technical glitches so it was not good.

Overall this was not a good game.

It gets 2 out of 5 stars.

The game also had a symptom of rushed development which is where a lot of the flaws in story and gameplay came from and alot of interesting ideas were sadly not implemented due to the rushed development time and also because of corporate executive interference too and lack of cohesive direction so yeah don't think capcom is still out of the dark ages of the 2010s they still are and the only way for them to stop is if they go under period.
