Miss Monochrome The Animation is an anime series created by Japanese voice actress Yui Hoie and it focuses on a character she created Miss Monochrome and her journey to becoming an idol.Â
In reality Miss Monochrome is actually something of a pretty niche type of vocaloid with her own cult following of passionate fans but nowhere near as successful as other types of vocaloids especially ones like Hatsune Miku and the rest of the crypton created ones.Â
The story itself isn’t really that special or creative and each episode is incredibly short about 4 minutes each per episode.Â
Some bits and pieces ofwhat i can make out of its paper thin narrative is that once upon a time ago monochrome and someone else was bound to meet again after the generic sterotypical grey aliens come to destroy earth and the earth eventually repopulating again and now she and her deceased friend can meet again as competing idols so this is as far as i know the earliest reincarnation themed idol story and to get it straight here, oshi no koi simply had the chance of being popular by being a long milked out overly drawn out story to cater to obnoxious tourist normalfags meanwhile same aliens try invading earth ages later only to be easily defeated in one hit in one episode. Â
The characters are incredibly one note and bland and honestly not really that interesting to care about either.Â
The anime did feature some pop culture references here and there like one episode featuring Miss Monochrome in various episodes winning championships from boxing with charactirues of notable figures from their respective fields like Mike Tyson and the late Hulk Hogan.

(Fuck anyone who disses his legacy on wwe and fuck anyone who celebrates charlie kirks murder too on that note ya’ll leftist fuckers deserve all the shit that you’ve got that is coming to you and more full fucking stop.)Â
The art and animation is generally ok but some scenes were just recycled and easily noticeable and its one thing recreating what hanabara did in the past its another just to reuse a scene simply out of laziness.Â
Since the anime is in part produced by Sangizen Wooser also appears as cameos here and there.Â
The music itself sparse as it is was ok too.Â
Overall it was a below average anime.Â
It gets 2 out of 5 stars.Â
You're better off with Key The Metal Idol or Ya Boy Kongming instead of this or Oshi No Koi because those 2 have originality and something unique to its own story not this vanity project like what Knight Hunters and this anime really is.Â
