Pokemon Z-A is part of the legends spin off of the pokemon games and it takes place in luminose city where the trainer like atypical pokemon games rises to be the best trainer.
The game utilzes a city based enviroment in contrast to the more nature style of the previous games and exploring luminose city was honestly underwhelming its the only location you can really explore in the game and nowhere else.
The game had quite the bit of technical slowdowns and hiccups here and there.
The localziation was really terrible especially with its use of gen-z and gen-alpha slang here and there.
The story itself was nothing any special and it suffered from alot of really bad writing and terrible decisions.
All of the characters were bland and unintereting and very tropey.
The side quests were mainly fetch quests.
Occasionally you can do research tasks which is mainly fighting and collecting pokemon.
The tournaments to rank up happen at night where you can fight trainers rank up then face the respective rival and do challenges to speed things along.
You can transfer your pokemon from pokemon home from the 3ds and the other pokemon games from the switch for conveince.
You can go to wild zones to capture pokemon.
Occasionally you can visit restaurants for fighting against other trainers for rewards too.
The music was generally fine.
According to the leaks there was actually said to be more stuff but yeah it just got stripped down and you don’t really have that much to do sadly.
The combat is real time based this time.
The game also has a pretty lifeless world design wise I've seen more people do stuff in the yakuza games of all things than pokemon za and the yakuza games have been older than this recent release.
The amount hand holding tutorials was pretty annoying too and so was the padding and filler.
The game also suffers from alot of woke pandering too like the non binary gender ambigious stuff and Naveen yeah he pretty much represents a typical tumblrite theather kid and hes just as annoying as is in the game as you expect a wokie to be in real life.
You can mega evolve certain pokemon for boosted abilities for a while.
Overall the game was below average.
