Steel Angel Kurumi is an anime adaptation of the manga of the same name. Kurumi is a maid robot created by a Japanese Scientist during the Taisho period in Japan. She is extremely strong but not very smart. She become activated when accidentally kissed by a young boy, Nakahito Kagura. The storyline focuses around the adventures of Kurumi and Kagura who finds themselves in various troubles.

The characters were pretty bland and a lot of the times they make hasty and really dumb decisions. The comedy was repetitive with just the same recurring misunderstandings and jealousy. Not helping either was how the lead character was just someone who spends more time complaining and getting caught in the crosshairs and not really doing anything of constructive. The episodes are fairly short with each being about 15 minutes.
The anime is quite different from the manga and strays far from it sometimes. It does get quite the tonal shift later on as the story progresses and the ending does fall on something of a downer unfortunately. The music is decent, and the steam punk setting was interesting. The animation was ok and fairly consistent.
Overall it was an average anime.
It gets 3 out of 5 stars.
