To Heart is an anime adaptation based on the visual novel of the same name. It focuses on the lazy Hiroyuki Fujita and his school life with friends and many of the girls

he encounters during his time at a high school set sometime in the future.

Hiroyuki meets many girls but it his childhood friend Akari who loves him.

The story, based on which girl is the main focus in the episode, has either supernatural elements or sci fi android elements which was interesting.  Each episode has more romantic interests joining the show and each has their own unique charm and character to the plot. The characters were generally ok while you can see a lot of these types in various other anime presently but at the time, they were unique, interesting and charming.

The artstyle is incredible, both character art and background design were brilliant and they still hold up today.

The music is generally ok too.

Tonal wise it isn’t really focused on melodrama or much of misunderstandings or all that kind of annoying associated tropes associated with a lot of romance anime. Instead, it focuses on a more mellow sort of relaxing tone so don’t expect it to be drama focused like say the works of Key another visual novel developer for example.

Overall, it was an excellent anime and with just thirteen episode, it is easy to binge watch.

It gets 4 out of 5 stars.
