magical shopping arcade

Magical Shopping Arcade is an anime original created by Gainax and Madhouse. 

It focuses on Satoshi Amamiya and Arumi Asahina going through various worlds based around pop culture and video games and they must find a way back into the real world especially since lot of the worlds is based on Satoshis own personal interests. 

One such world was based around dating sims of the 90s and 2000s like To Heart or Tokimeki Memorial for example. 

The lore stuff like reality shifting and magic its not exactly something thats easy to follow at least for me especially since i found it personally too last minute to enjoy. Especially since its also something of a fairly short anime too theres also that. 

Its also fitting too that the anime was also written by the same writer for Otaku No Video. 

The characters are as average as average can get. 

The comedy was very slapstick focused and it just got boring and bland after a while and just really annoying too. 

The ending itself like many Gainax endings its just what the fuck just happened and it just felt bizzare. Some say it woulda been better if the anime fell for a bittersweet route but honestly i personally didn’t mind the not moving aspect but yeah Gainax endings will just leave a bizzare taste left with the viewers. 

The art is pretty decent and so was the animation too. 

Overall it was an alright anime. 

It gets 3 out of 5 stars.
